Race car room

I realize it's been who knows how long since I last blogged, but between busy at work before Nov 23rd and 2 kids after that... yeah it's a little tough.

Anyway, I wanted to put up a tutorial on how to paint a race car room for your little toddler that's obsessed with cars...

We decided to paint Sam's room similar to the Disney one except our checkers are black and white instead of extremely dark blue and yellow.

So first we put tape around the whole room pretty much, we covered all the doors, closet and the floor.

Then we split the room in 3 parts, the top part and the celling are blue, the middle part is checkers and the bottom is red.

First we painted the top and then the bottom part and once it dried we put tape around the third part (checkers) so that we don't get any color on the blue/red part.

First we did the top part of the checkers, we started with the black blocks first (we had to do 2 coats) once that dried we did the white blocks on the top. And once those were done we repeated the same steps with the bottom part of the checkers.

This is what the room turn out to look like and honestly I didn't even imagine it would look this good. Sam LOVES it! And I'm glad he does cause it took us 3 whole days to do it :)
